Player Piano
This advertisement is very effective from first glance. its puropse is to persuade the reader annd the techniques it uses are very effective. when it says 'why dont you' it is using a technique that would make the reader feel that everyone else has one because of its use of 'why dont'. also it would make the reader feel that the poster is aimed at them particularly because of the underlining and the italic font of 'you'.
a similar effect is achieved when it says 'player rolls are better'. this is giving the reader complete conformation that if they bought the product it would be a good one.
'its a christmas present for the whole family'. this sentence will convince and persuade the reader even further because it is assuring that the whole family would get enjoyment/benefit from the product.
by using a large sized font it would immediately attract the reader and therefore get them to read the whole advertisement- making them more likely to buy the product.
by using one burst of colour of a black and white poster is also a very good way of attracting a reader because strangely, colour is more noticeable when it is not surrounded by colour because its such a drastic contrast.
Does the language here offer the reader much of a choice?
